The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has made several arrests and seized large quantities of illicit drugs during a major operation in Budumburam and surrounding communities.
In a statement dated January 16, 2026, the intelligence-led raid targeted suspected drug dens and distribution points as part of NACOC’s nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse.
Among those arrested is 32-year-old Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as ‘Mother,’ who is believed to be a key figure in the local drug trade and had previously evaded arrest.
“Among those arrested was a 32-year-old woman identified as Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as ‘Mother’, described by opinion leaders as a key figure in the local drug trade who had previously evaded arrest,” the statement said.

NACOC disclosed that she coordinated both retail and supply operations within Budumburam and its environs.
During the operation, officers seized cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, along with items believed to be linked to drug peddling activities.

NACOC has stated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be processed for court in accordance with the law.
The Commission has also indicated that further operations are expected as it intensifies efforts to tackle drug-related crime in the region.
