NADMO provides inputs to returnees to engage in farming

Akumsa-Dumase (B/A), Nov. 28, GNA - The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is assisting about 14 citizens of Akumsa-Dumase in the Nkoranza District who have just returned from Libya with logistics to enable them to engage in serious farming.

The Organisation provided the returnees with 13 mini bags of 'Obaatanpa' seed maize and 28 bags of fertilizer during the minor farming season for their farming activities.

Mr John Kwasi Kwao, District Disaster Control Officer, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency during a visit to the returnees to interact with them on their farming activities.

He said the government had other plans for the upkeep of the returnees to sustain their interest to remain in the country and contribute to national development instead of embarking on risky travels.

Mr Kwao said the government would also supply other agricultural inputs such as cutlasses, hoes and Wellington boots to the returnees to help promote their activities.

Mr Kwao commended the returnees for their hard work and efforts to succeed in what they had embarked upon and urged them to support the government by redoubling their efforts.

He asked them to forget about their past sufferings in Libya and be focused on their farming activities to improve their living standards.

Mr Cosmos Baffoe, one of the returnees, commended the government for the support and encouragement and acknowledged the hardships they went though on the journey to Libya.

He advised other youth interested to travel to that country to rescind their decision and rather engage in income-generating ventures to make their lives better in Ghana.
