Authorities in Burkina Faso have begun the spillage of the Bagre Dam with warning given about the “voluminous” and “high speed” water.

According to Sonabel, Burkina Faso’s power company, the water is moving at 95.4 cubic meters per second.

As a result, it is expected to get to Ghana within 72 hours after spillage, which was started at exactly 6:49 am on Friday, August 31.

The National Disaster Management Organisation (Nadmo) has, therefore, warned residents along banks of major rivers in the north to stay away.

Already, it is collaborating with other state agencies to prevent any disaster from the spillage.

“Nadmo and collaborative agencies are all alert,” a statement issued by Nadmo’s Upper East Region Director Jerry Asamani said.
