In a glowing endorsement, the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Mr. Angel Carbonu, has commended the Member of Parliament for Madina, Hon. Francis Xavier-Sosu, for his exceptional commitment to celebrating and honoring teachers through the Sosu Best Teacher’s Award. Speaking at the second edition of the award ceremony, Mr. Carbonu praised the MP’s efforts, describing him as a "vibrant young man" who has managed to achieve remarkable feats despite being in opposition.

“He (Sosu) is a very vibrant man,” Mr. Carbonu remarked. “A man who is an MP in opposition, and you all know how difficult it is to be a member of parliament in opposition in this country. And yet, in spite of these obstacles, he’s been able to do so much. A young vibrant man in opposition who has done what people in government could not do,” he added.

The Sosu Best Teacher’s Award, which recently concluded its second edition, is an initiative by the Madina MP to recognize and reward outstanding teachers in his constituency. The award ceremony, which has garnered significant attention, aims to celebrate the invaluable contributions of teachers to the educational sector and motivate them to continue their dedicated service.

Beyond celebrating teachers, Hon. Francis Xavier-Sosu has also been actively involved in legislative efforts that directly impact the lives of his constituents. Notably, he has championed a private member's bill to remove taxes on sanitary pads, a move aimed at making these essential products more accessible to young girls in Ghana.

Mr. Carbonu recalled the MP’s initiative, stating, “I recall when he came to my office and invited me to be part of his private member's bill to ensure that taxes are removed from sanitary pads in this country. The entirety of NAGRAT has decided to support that bill.”

He further highlighted NAGRAT's commitment to supporting this initiative by seeking sponsorships from international organizations to help young girls manufacture their sanitary pads locally. “As part of our activities to demonstrate that we support that bill, we have sought sponsorship from international organizations in this country to help our young ladies manufacture their own sanitary pads,” he said.

Mr. Carbonu expressed confidence that Hon. Francis Xavier-Sosu would continue to make significant strides in his political career, especially if his party comes to power in the upcoming elections. “Honorable member, you are going to be one of the fortunate members of parliament when your party comes to government next year,” he concluded.

The Sosu Best Teacher’s Award, coupled with the MP's legislative efforts, showcases his dedication not only to his constituents in Madina but also to broader social issues affecting Ghanaians. His initiatives continue to gain recognition and support, reflecting his commitment to making a difference, even from the opposition benches in Parliament.
