The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has officially handed over the constituency to the elected parliamentary candidate, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.
The ceremony was briefly held during a recent polling station meeting at the Apostolic Church to symbolize a transition of power from Dr Opoku Prempeh to Baffour Awuah.
With polling station and constituency executives bearing witnesses to this auspicious event, Baffour Awuah said he felt empowered not only to retain the seat for the NPP but to widen the margins against the major opposition political party; the National Democratic Congress, in the December 7 polls.
Addressing party officials and sympathizers at the meeting, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (alias NAPO) advised his successor, Baffour Awuah, to safeguard the peace and unity in the party and the entire constituency.
He challenged him to champion the development of the constituency, and the integrity of the NPP.
On his part, Baffour Awuah promised to work to the expectations of the party and the people of Manhyia South when given the nod.
He reiterated that the 2024 election would be marked with an overwhelming endorsement of the NPP at both parliamentary and presidential polls.
“I will not only promote the peace and unity of the constituency but also work tirelessly to secure massive votes for H.E Dr Mahamadu Bawumia in the coming election,” he noted.
Lawyer Baffour Awuah is currently on an intensive campaign across the Manhyia South.
He is reported to have adopted a responsive political strategy that would enable him to amass huge votes for the NPP come December 7 2024.
