Tamale, Nov. 28, GNA - The National Communications Authority (NCA), on Monday cut the sword for the construction of a GH¢ 3.6 Million Regional office in Tamale, capital of the Northern Region, as part of its decentralisation drive.
The project to be completed in 18 months, replaces a temporal structur= e.
Mr Harunna Iddrissu, Minister of Communications said it is the view of President John Evans Atta Mills that the service of the NCA is made available to all.
So far the Authority has opened offices in the Ashanti and Western Regions, which would soon be inaugurated, whilst the facilities for the Volta, Eastern and the Brong Ahafo Regions will be ready by 2012.
Mr Kofi Totobi Quakye, Board Chairman of the NCA said the people of Ghana deserve to be served better by the telecom operators, stressing the need for quality spectrum.
He urged the people to make their concerns about the telecom operators known to the NCA through the Regulator.
Mr Paarock Vanpercy, Director General of the NCA said since 1997, the Authority has deemed it necessary to bring its services to the door steps of the people.
In a related development, a consumer forum was organised by the NCA in Tamale where the consumers aired a number of grievances to the telecom operators, which centered on poor quality service.
