NCCE affirms Church of Pentecost donation

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has affirmed that the donation of 12 Cinema Vans by the Church of Pentecost for the nationwide sensitization on COVID-19 was intact.

The Commission said unlike commentaries on some news analysis in the media at the weekend, “the NCCE wishes to clarify and state emphatically that the support is intact and the Church of Pentecost has not withdrawn the 12 Cinemas given to the Commission”.

A statement signed by Mrs Joyce Afutu, the Director, Communications and Corporate Affairs of NCCE and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the joint operational team of NCCE and COP are in the field engaging Ghanaians to remain calm.

It urged individuals to comply with directives under Executive Instruments and the Imposition of Restrictions Act, Act 1012; and also verify information on the COVID-19 pandemic from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the World Health Organisation to avoid being misinformed.

The statement urged Ghanaians to continuously adhere to all the preventive measures put in place by the Government including social distancing and other safety protocols, stay home during the lockdown period in affected Regions and cooperate with security services to contain and curtail the spread and win the war against the COVID-19 disease.

It added that it was the collective actions and responsibilities of all citizens that could ensure that the war against the pandemic was won.

The Commission appealed to other institutions and philanthropists to support the Commission with additional vans, public address systems, fuel and basic safety items to enable it to deepen public education, in every nook and cranny of the country.
