The Hohoe Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has sensitized market women and community members at Fodome-Amele on the novel COVID-19 pandemic and how to scale the challenges of infection.

The community members were also sensitised on myths about the disease and the need for keeping healthy and adhering to all precautionary measures to fight the spread of the coronavirus disease.

Mr. Ernest Amedior, the Hohoe Municipal Director of NCCE admonished members of the community especially market women to adhere to safety protocols such as frequent handwashing at least for 20 seconds, use of hand sanitizers, observe social distance and stay at home if they had nothing urgent outside their homes.

He said it was more dangerous for the people to stigmatise or discriminate against those who were infected or recovered from the virus but offer them the needed support to facilitate their full recovery devoid of trauma.

Mr Amedior appealed to members of the community to desist from spreading misinformation about the disease adding that it could cause public fear and panic.

Mr. Eric Abutiate, Senior Civic Education Officer, NCCE took some community members through the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and advised parents to ensure the safety of their children in this COVID 19 pandemic era by monitoring their movements.

The community members expressed gratitude to the Commission for the sensitisation programme and pledged their adherence to the precautionary measures to protect their lives and that of their families.
