Takoradi, Sept.21 -GNA- Mrs Gladys Asmah, Minister for Women and Children's Affairs has called on the electorate to ignore the campaign of misinformation, blatant lies and vilification that had been adopted by the leadership of the National democratic Congress (NDC) against the Government and ranking officers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). She stated that, the NDC had resorted to this propaganda because it had foreseen defeat in the forthcoming general elections and therefore, trying to employ "every dirty tactics in its desperate effort to survive".

Mrs. Asmah, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi was addressing an NPP rally at Takoradi on Saturday.
The allegations of selective justice, corruption, nepotism, murder and reckless spending of the country's resources being peddled by the NDC "must be seen as the desperate kicks of a dying horse", the Minister said.
She said road, school and other development projects provided by the government in the Volta Region alone give credence to the fact that the government had not neglected any part of the country either on political or ethnic grounds.
More than 500 billion cedis had been disbursed nationwide under the social investment fund to reduce poverty among the people. Mrs. Asmah expressed surprise and disappointment at organised labour decision to oppose the deduction of two-and-half per cent of their contributions to the SSNIT Fund as seed money to enable the National Health Insurance Scheme to take off.
She noted that farmers, for several years continue to make sacrifices to improve the conditions of life for all and workers should not stand in the way to ensure quality health service in the country.
The Minister said it is not true that the two-and-half per cent deduction of workers contributions from SSNIT funds would affect the future of the scheme and urged the Trades Union Congress "to take a second look at its stand on the issue".
Mr Yaw Asante, constituency chairman of the party called on supporters and sympathisers of the NPP to remain loyal and work hard to consolidated the gains so far made on the political arena. He said the Party had evolved campaign strategies that would boost its chances in the 2004 elections.
