Mr. Akorli who is also an MP said when President Kufuor addressed the recent NPP congress, he disclosed that the government has greatly reduced the cost of constructing a kilometer of road. According to him, the President said his government has reduced it from between $500,000 and $600,000 a kilometer to less than $200,000. Mr. Akorli argued that the Anyinam section of the Accra-Kumasi asphalt road is only 11.5kilometres but the cost is about $413,900 per kilometer.

He also said information from public documents indicated that 21.8kilometres of the Apedwa stretch of the Accra-Kumasi road costs $10.1million and ?20billion, putting the cost per kilometer at $472,447. He said, ?if you look at our situation now, the workers of Ghana are suffering because we have left Ghana in the hands of unskilled people. ?We in the NDC are going to remove the NPP government, not with AK-47 but with our thumbs.

NPP May ?Sell Us to Pay Debts

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Ohene Kena has said that if the NPP wins this year?s election and retains power, it may have to sell Ghanaians to settle the huge debts it has incurred since assuming office.
?They will sell you all to settle the trillions of cedis they have collected. Vote them out of power, he said. Mr. Ohene Kena was speaking at the party?s meeting at New Tafo in the Eastern Region to endorse the parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa North. Mr. Ohene Kena said Ghanaians are suffering in the hands of NPP government, which if not voted out, will create more havoc.
The regional chairman therefore urged President Kufuor to prepare his handing notes since there are clear indications of the NDC winning the elections.
