NDC Condemn Nomination Of Justice Afreh

Wed, 13 Mar 2002 Source:

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed dissatisfaction with government’s nomination of Justice D.K. Afreh to the position of Supreme Court judge. The party says the appointment of Justice Afreh before the Supreme Court reviews it’s ruling on the illegality of the Fast Track Court is tantamount to the politicization of the court.

The NDC also noted that since Justice Afreh is currently one of the Appeal Court judges sitting at the Fast Track Court, justice cannot be served if he is empanelled to deliberate on the issue. The NDC, in a statement, reminded government of its avowed commitment to the rule of law and cautioned against acts that will either bring the country’s administrative justice into disrepute or undermine the integrity of the Supreme Court.
