About 150 members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who defected to National Democratic Party (NDC) in 1998 have decided to come back to their mother party.

The group in a press statement issued at Sunyani jointly signed by Akwasi Addai-Boateng the spokesperson and six others, said their decision to go back to their mother party was motivated by the excellent leadership the NPP is offering the nation.

'Today the country can boast of solid infrastructure in the areas of private sector, roads, electricity, potable water and others,' the statement noted.

The group further praised the Kufuor administration for creating an excellent atmosphere of peace and stability in the nation, adding 'within two years rule of the NPP, the country has enjoyed continuous peace and stability which is unmatched in any other country in the West African sub-region.

The group which said defection was done out of their own volition, urged their members of the minority parties to also think deeply about events in the country and immediately defect to join forces with the NPP to support the effort being made to transform the nation.

The statement finally praised the good work of the Brong Ahafo regional organizer of NPP, Mr. Kofi Darko, whose instrumentality urged the group to return home and appealed to all NPP activists to always extend a warm hand of friendship to all opposition members who decide to defect to the NPP 'because politics is always a game of numbers'.
