The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as false a publication in a South African newspaper that mining giants, Randgold Resources is behind Professor John Atta Mills? campaign for president.
The party says the publication in the Business Day newspaper is malicious and a fabrication of the true events that took place in South Africa when Professor Mills visited that country.
Randgold Resources has already denied endorsing the Professor?s bid for President.
The Business Day newspaper reported that Brett Kebble, who it described as a Randgold executive, gave the mining company?s endorsement of Professor Mills when he spoke at dinner held by the Professor in Cape Town.
Randgold?s chief executive, Dr. Mark Bristow says Brett Kebble could not have been speaking on behalf of Randgold because he resigned as a non-executive director in July last year.
The NDC?s Communications Director, John Mahama also told JOY FM that though Mr. Kebble attended the dinner, he never spoke of such things as reported by the paper.
?I saw the guest list, and Mr. Kebble was invited on the ticket of JCI, there was no representation from Randgold and Mr. Kebble never spoke of Randgold or represented them?, he said.
The South African newspaper had variously referred to Kebble as an executive of Randgold and suggested that the dinner with John Atta Mills was an endorsement of the NDC leader- a point Dr. Bristow has denied
