NDC Gen. Sec. Against Aspects of People?s Assembly

Mr. Aseidu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, has criticised certain aspects of the People?s Assembly recently held in Cape Coast, describing it as one sided, which seeks to give exposure only to the government.

According to him, the People?s Assembly focuses mainly on the incumbent party to the neglect of other political parties.

He said a programme like the People?s Assembly, must seek to encompass the reactions and views of all political parties to really reflect the true meaning of democracy for accelerated development.

Speaking on Spacefm?s Morning show programme ?Space Morning Flight?, Mr. Nketia, observed that, unlike the previous assemblies which involved all parliamentarians, which offered the platform for all manner of politicians especially parliamentarians to share and answer questions from the public on the nature of the economy notwithstanding their political affiliations, the current assembly lacks that characteristic.

He added that the NPP government has changed the format citing lack of funds.

The NDC General secretary wondered why this time the NPP has enough funds to undergo the People?s Assembly.

He called for modification of the People?s Assembly to integrate the views of all parliamentarians from the opposition as the previous one sought to do to ensure adequate assessment on the national economy.

Reacting to the resignation of the formal interior minister of the erstwhile NDC, Mr. Nii Okaidja Adamafio from the party, he pointed out that, NDC believes in principles and as such still thinks that he, (Adamafio) is still a member of the party because he has not submitted to the executive committee of the party any resignation letter for hearing as the modus operandi of the party demands.

He continued that as far as the executives of the party are concerned, he is still a member of the party, despite the fact that he has made known to the public through the media, his decisions to resign.

Mr. Aseidu did not agree that about 150 faithfuls of NDC who are supporters of the former interior minister, have planned to quit the party following the resignation of Mr. Adamafio.

Mr. Nketia, known in Ghanaian politics as ?General mosquito?, was not worried about the current resignations of members of the party but was full of hope about the future performance of the party
