The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Germany Chapter condemns in no uncertain terms the attempts by the NPP Germany Branch to cast insinuations against Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang, the Running mate of the National Democratic Congress.

Addressing a rally in the Kpentiga in the Gushegu Constituency, Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang highlighted the need for electorates to vote massively for John Mahama and the NDC to propel the NDC to reset the country and fix the challenges, including that of the education sector.

She explained that "when the NDC commissions schools, it meant the library was stored, the classrooms were set with furniture, the computer rooms had computers and there were teachers assigned with teaching and learning materials, meaning that the school is operational".

These facts didn't go down well with the Elephants in Germany and have questioned the achievements of the revered Prof. for criticizing the Nana Addo/Bawumia government for collapsing the Educational Sector of Ghana.

To set the record straight, Prof's position that "it is deceptive for the government to spruce up existing schools and inaugurate them" is not farfetched from the truth. It was on record that prior to the 2016 elections, the then presidential candidate of the NPP and the running mate, Nana Addo and Bawumia respectively promised to build 350 schools in 18 months when elected to office.

The question is 'can NPP Germany branch point out a single SHS built by Nana Addo/Bawumia if not mere painting of existing schools?

Also, during the Eid-Ul-Adha celebration on 11th August 2019 at the Blackstar Square in Accra, the Vice President Alhaji Bawumia announced that the Saudi King has pledge to finance the construction of a medical university in the northern part of Ghana and an additional construction of 42 SHS in Ghana. We challenge the NPP Germany Branch to show the location of one of the said schools as announced by Alhaji Bawumia in 2019. If this is not deception and lies, what do we call it?

It is of trite knowledge that during Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang's tenure as the Education Minister, government completed 46 community day schools in 4years.

The commissioning of John Evans Atta Mills Community Day Senior High School in Ekumfi Otuam, Frafraha Community Day Senior High School and Kwabenya Community Day Senior High School among others reflects the meaning of the word "complete" as stated by the running mate of the NDC. We call out our brothers from the Elephant fraternity in Germany to mention just one school built by Akuffo Addo/Bawumia government since 2017 in the interest of accountability and full disclosure.

On Free SHS, the lack of disclosure and policy direction by the current regime has been the major predicament of the policy. It is worthy to note that during the commissioning of J.E.A. Mills Community Day SHS on 18th September 2015, President Mahama announced the introduction of progressive free SHS programme covering 320,000 Day students at a cost of GH₵12,178,544.00 for the 2015/2016 academic year marking a milestone in second-cycle schools.

The Akuffo Addo/Bawumia Government have messed up the policy after they have taken over, leading to over-crowded classrooms and dormitories, double track system, distribution of expired goods to schools, low teacher-student ratio which have worsened the learning environment, thereby affected the quality of education and negatively impacted student's health and welfare.

We want to remind the Elephants that Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang contribution in the Ghana Education Sector cannot by matched by any of their apparatchiks. Her role in education earned her the highest educational award in Ghana, THE OFFICE OF THE ORDER OF THE VOLTA FOR ACADEMIC DISTINCTION IN 2011 by J.E.A. MILLS, "GHANA WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE AWARD IN EDUCATION CATEGORY in 2011, listed among the 40 MOST INSPIRATIONAL FEMALE LEADERS IN GHANA FOR SERVING AS A ROLE MODEL FOR WOMEN IN GHANA AND AFRICA and in January 2023 was listed among the 100 MOST REPUTABLE AFRICAN.

As the general election approaches, we urge voters not to fall for attacks on revered personalities and deceptive promises. Electorates should consider the hardships and suffering of the masses, the high level of corruption and crony capitalism under this regime to vote for the Ghana we all want. Let’s embrace the 24-hour economy policy to build the Ghana we want together.

Short live Deceptive Leadership

Long Live Transformational Leadership

Long Live NDC

Long Live Ghana.
