NDC Guru Curses Former Colleague With ‘Voltic Water’

The Brong-Ahafo Regional Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Collins Mahama, has invoked curses on a former NDC member, and now National Coordinator of the Real Democratic Patriot Party (RDPP), Raphael Cubagee (Shamo Quaye), for alleging that he (Mahama) had been giving him confidential information about the NDC and the Regional Executive Committee meetings.

The battle ground was at the studios of a Sunyani-based radio station, Ark FM, during the station’s Morning Show Programme, hosted by Kwame Agyei.

The action of the NDC Secretary follows an allegation by Cubagee that Mahama was the one who had been making public some secrets of the party. Shamo alleged that Collins was a traitor, because he had been using Mahama as an informant, who had been feeding negative information about top NDC executives.

He further alleged that Collins Mahama informed him that the Deputy Regional Minister, Eric Opoku, shattered his dream of becoming the Regional Coordinator of the Non-Formal Education office, which had been given to a native of Sankore, where the Deputy Minsiter hails from.

Before Shamo could finish his submission, Mahama took a bottle of Voltic mineral water and invoked curses, saying if he was the one who indeed, fed Shamo with the information about the Regional Minster and the NDC, he should die if he drinks from the Tano River and vice versa.

It was a strange enactment, as the NDC Secretary stood right in the middle of the studio and sprinkled water from the Voltic bottle onto the floor, amidst reciting some incantations.

Sensing danger, the NPP panelist on the show, Apraku Tufour (Tarzan), ran out of the studio.

There were more revelations to come; as Shamo claimed Collins was receiving double pay form the Ghana Education Service and National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), because at the time of his appointment, Mahama was enrolled as a Long Distance student, undertaking a Diploma in and Education programme at Bechem.

Collins countered by alleging that Shamo was equally guilty of using a business partner to guarantee a loan facility granted by his bankers. Collins continued that Shamo was to give part of the loan to the business partner, but failed to do so.

To worsen the matter, according to Collins, Shamo failed to pay back the loan, resulting in the bank taking him to court.

When contacted, Collins Mahama disputed ever cursing Shamo Quaye, but declined to comment further on the matter, saying, “Please I cannot discuss this on phone, because I’m very busy preparing towards the regional celebration of the 26th Farmers Day at Nsawkaw, in the Tain district.”

However, The Chronicle on Saturday gathered that invoking curses is banned by the chiefs and elders of Fiapre, where Ark Fm is located, so Collins Mahama was summoned to the Fiapre Chief’s Palace.

But, when the persons delegated by the chiefs to summon Collins Mahama to the palace arrived at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on Wednesday December 1, 2010, he was about to board a Toyota Land cruiser bound for Nsawkaw, for the preparation of the Farmers Day celebration.

Meanwhile, Shamo Quaye, when contacted, confirmed the story, whilst the producer and the host of the Ark FM Morning show host, Kwaku Abrampa and Nana Kwame Agyei respectively, all confirmed that the Propaganda Secretary of the NDC invoked a curse on the RDPP National Coordinator in the studios.
