Sunyani, July 3, Space FM - The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP and the Sunyani Municipal Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme,(NYEP) Mr Alfred Annye, has said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is out of coverage area and that it would be very difficult for any one to reach them during the 2008 general elections. He added that Ghanaians are now wiser and have realised the difference between the NPP and the NDC which would guide them on voting day, stressing that "it would be one touch, no redial for the NPP". The hardworking youth organiser was speaking to Space FM in Sunyani, in reaction to NDC's General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia's last week assertion that power is slipping from the NPP. Aseidu Nketia had said that Ghanaians are poorer under the NPP government but Mr Annye refuted the allegation saying, comparing the NDC era to that of the NPP, any well meaning Ghanaian would realise that President Kufour's era has seen so many improvement in the lives of Ghanaians. "The youth of the country now have a better and a bright future ahead of them following the sound policies of the government such as the national youth employment programme among others", he said.

He pointed out that for the past six years, as a result of prudent management, the economy has been stable with inflation going down from 49% to 15%.The youth organiser noted that under the previous government, the minimum wage was ¢6,900 compared to ¢19,500 under the NPP.

Mr Annye said the NPP has replaced NDC's cash and carry system with the National Health Insurance Scheme, eliminated human right abuses with the national reconciliation, provided free transportation for school children, introduced school feeding programme and capitaion grant and solving the enery crises with the building of the Bui Dam. He asked Aseidu Nketia why he never mentioned the possibility of the Bui dam during his twelve year stay in parliament for the Wenchi West Constituency.

Again, the NPP government has passed the disability law, made provison for MSLC holders to pursue diploma courses and instituted car loan schemes for teachers as well as affordable houses for all workers.

"Under the NPP, 20,000 land lines have been provided compared to the 4000 lines provided by the NDC". he said.Mr Annye said communication has been made easier with the availability of several communication networks.

He added that "one of the peaceful period in the nation's history has been under president Kufour while Ghana has earned proper international recognition under the NPP".

Mr Annye said the Kufour administration has ensured that people are able to express themselves without the fear of victimisation as was the case underv the NDC government.

"Freedom of expression is good for democracy and the ultimate union of African governments and that explains why president Kuffour was elected the AU Chairman to serve as example for others to allow freedom of expression in their countries", he pointed out to this paper. Mr Annye said the recent oil strike in the country is a confirmation of what the Bible says that a nation with a God fearing leader finds favour in the sight of the Lord.

He pointed out that because of the God fearing nature of president Kufour, he has found favour in the sight of the Lord and avenues which were peviously hidden, have been opened.

The NPP youth organiser was hopeful that the 9th AU Summit would be a turning point for Africa because Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first president, started the debate for a united Africa and president Kufour should see to the realisation of that dream.

He assured the NDC that Professor Mills could continue with his house to house campaign and even include window to window and room to room but the good Lord would ensure total victory for the NPP in 2008.
