Former Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Yammin is certain he has committed no crime in relation to the shooting incident that took place at the party’s Regional Headquarters pledging his commitment to collaborate with the police in the ongoing investigations, MyNewsGh.com reports
Joseph Yammin who was invited by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on Tuesday categorically denied his involvement in the murder of Wasiu Iddrisu either directly or indirectly.
The deceased was shot multiple times on Monday afternoon at the party regional secretariat following bloody clashes that ensued between two alleged factions a day earlier which National Executives were in the region to resolve
Another victim, identified as Abdul Rahman, who was also shot by the gun-wielding thugs, is nursing serious wounds at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH)
An ongoing meeting between some top party executives was consequently put on hold following the ensuing melee which saw some of them fleeing the scene for safety with the reverberating gunshots.
Four suspects including one Warrior, Damos, Mejimah and and Abu Taliban, who are members of the NDC Vigilante Group have been identified by police and are being pursued.
Speaking to MyNewsGh.com after honouring an invitation by the Ashanti Regional Police and subjected to over an hour of interrogation with his home searched, Mr Yammin was optimistic he would be exonerated at the end of investigations.
He questioned the motive behind some faceless individuals in the party who want to tarnish his image with claims he is the mastermind when he knows nothing about the whole incident.
“I wasn’t at the party office when the incident occurred. I heard the news on my way to the party office and I decided not to go there. So I don’t know why my name was mentioned” he wondered.
Meanwhile, Police say investigations are ongoing to arrest the suspects.
