NDC MP responds to Abronye DC’s threat of violence in 2024 elections

The Minority Chief Whip, Kwame Agbodza, has added his voice to the rejection of signing a peace pact ahead of the 2024 elections by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kwame Agbodza who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, while responding to a video interview of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, inciting violence in the 2024 elections, questioned the basis of signing the peace pact in the wake of such utterances.

Taking to his social media page on September 10, 2024, Agbodza stated, “How will signing a Peace Pact deal with this? But I can ASSURE YOU, the PEOPLE OF GHANA shall protect and defend the constitution against any subversive elements and groups.”

Meanwhile, the national chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has made it clear that the party will not commit to any peace pact ahead of the 2024 general elections unless specific conditions are met.

Asiedu Nketiah outlined the NDC's concern during a meeting with the National Peace Council, expressing doubts about the effectiveness of past peace pacts, particularly, the one signed during the 2020 elections.

He pointed out that despite previous agreements, eight NDC members were killed by national security operatives during the last election without any accountability.

To address these concerns, the NDC has put forward an additional six conditions that must be met before the party will consider signing the proposed peace pact.
