The Ayawaso East Constituency of the NPP has called on the NDC Minority group in Parliament to apologise to the electorate for their recent boycott of Parliamentary proceedings.
The Minority group should also explain why the electorate should not reduce the number of the NDC MPs in the 2004 elections. The NPP made the call on Thursday at a press briefing in Accra which was addressed by the constituency secretary, Mr. Felix Akurugu Amoah. Instead of attending to the Parliamentary duties bestowed on them by the electorate, the NPP said the minority group rather chose to sacrifice national interest by boycotting business of the House on grounds of Executive breach of the immunity and privileges of some minority members.
The Ayawaso East Constituency of the NPP was unhappy that the minority group did not appreciate the need to channel their grievances through the Privileges Committee of Parliament for redress whilst attending to Business of the House.
It also expressed surprise that the NDC Minority group whose party preached probity and accountability, are now trying to use the hallowed name of Parliament to cover alleged wrong-doings of some of its members.
