To Construct Wa Regional Hospital

The New Patriotic Party in the Upper West Region wishes to express its utmost disappointment with the Mills-Mahama led National Democratic Congress administration over the lack of developmental sincerity towards people of the Upper West Region.

Residents of the region were on July 31, 2010 promised the construction of a 160-bed regional hospital, after Vice President John Dramani Mahama cut the sod for the commencement of work.

However, almost two years down the line not a single structure has been put up by the Mills-Mahama administration, following the razzmatazz of Vice President Mahama’s sod-cutting ceremony.

A visit to the site, now, will reveal that the corrugated roofing sheets that were used to barricade the project site, at the time, are still lying around scattered on the project site after being blown away by a recent rainstorm that hit Wa.

Residents of the Upper West Region were made to believe that their yet-to-be-constructed hospital would be equipped with new facilities including 160 beds to promote good healthcare delivery in the region.

But this has become a hoax as there is no contractor nor construction materials at the site to suggest that work will start soon. This delay in the construction of the hospital can only point to a political gimmick by John Mahama and the NDC government because of their belief that the Upper West Region is a perceived stronghold.

If government was indeed being sincere with the people of the Upper West Region on the 31st of July 2010, when John Mahama cut the sod, then the NDC government must commence construction of Wa Regional Hospital immediately.
