NDC Polls: Tarkwa-Nsuaem NDC elects new executives

The Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region has finally elected new executives to steer affairs of the party for the next four years.

At the keenly contested election held at Tarkwa on Saturday, June 23, 2018, Mr. Raphael K. Setorwofia Jnr. emerged victorious in the chairmanship race polling 525 to beat his close contenders Mr.Danladi Salifu, who had 501 votes and Mr. Gordon Essien who also had 172 votes.

The Vice Chairman post went to Mr. Ahmed Kabirou who polled 554 votes, Mr. Isaac Appiah had 379votes, Mr. Anthony K. Otoo also polled 281 votes.

Mr. George Enimil won the Secretary post with 630 votes as against Mr. John Oscar Salaga who had 347 votes, Mr. Kwadwo Akonor Sekyi polled 170 votes and Moses Andoh with 69 votes.

The Deputy Secretary post also went to Manasseh Addison Sackey who polled 525 votes, James Justice Quaicoe had 462 votes and Samuel Minnah also polled 117 votes.

The Organizer post went to a female, Madam Anita Fiagbenu with 574 votes to beat her male contenders, Mr. Nuhu Yahaya polled 473 votes and Samuel Afari Cudjoe also polled 117 votes.

The Deputy Organiser post went to Philip Adjei with 570 votes as against Benjamin Ansah who also polled 499 votes and 151 votes.

Haruna Salifu Azika popularly known as Moro won the Youth Organiser post with 93 votes, Ibrahim Diallo had 38 votes and Emmanuel Arthur polled 33 votes.

The Deputy Youth Organiser post was won by Jemilatu Fuseini with 75 votes, Justice Abban 11 votes and Suleman Ismael polled 11 votes.

The Treasurer post went to Mr. Kenneth Mensah who won with 507 votes as against Mr. Jacob Cobbinah who polled 419 votes, Madam Kwofie polled 223 votes and 29 votes rejected.

Mr. Lariba Issaka took the Deputy Treasurer post with 924 votes to beat his main contender, Mr. Baker Shadrack who polled 293 votes.

The Communication Officer post also went to the former Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Presiding Member, Hon Joseph Abban Mensah who polled 551 votes to beat Mr. Mumuni Alhasaan who also polled 470 votes, Mr. Collins Ngesah had 199 votes and 29 votes rejected.

The Deputy Communication Officer post also went to Daniel Nketsiah with 533 votes as against Isaac Atinoto who had 500 votes, Gilbert Balfour Gyan polled 186 and 28 rejected votes.

Madam Diana polled 96 votes to win the Women's Organizer post as against her contenders, Madam Hannah Dantse who also 62 votes and Madam Josephine Annang who polled 4 votes.

The Deputy Women's Organizer post went to Madam Emelia Eshun with 77 votes, Madam Selina Karikari polled 71 votes and Madam also polled 14 votes.

Mr. Yusssif Alhassan polled 620 votes to beat his close contender, Alhaji Ennimil Mubarak who had 597 votes in the newly created post, Zongo Caucus Co-ordinator.

In all, 1198 delegates voted for 62 candidates that contested 15 vacant positions in the Constituency which was supervised by Mr. Yaw Opoku, the Municipal Director of Electoral Commission (EC) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality.

So far Tarkwa-Nsuaem NDC is leading with spoiled ballot papers in the Western Region of 129 spoiled votes.
