....Chase NPP Activists Into Bush

Two activists of the ruling New Patriotic Party, popularly known as Ato and K.K. were last Sunday night chased into the bush by fuming supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who had run amok in Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The two had just come out of an evening radio talk show on ASTA FM and were in the course of leaving the premises of the radio station when they were pounced upon by the band of hostile assailants, led by one Sulemana Owusu, the NDC Organiser for the Techiman South Constituency.

In the confusion that followed vociferous Ato had his shirt torn into pieces while he sustained some degrees of injuries but KK's courage deserted him and he took to the bush to escape attack. As the situation became unbearable for Ato, he also had no option but to also run away from his dear life. According to reports they were rescued by the NPP Chairman in the constituency, Mr Peter Adom, after he received an SOS call.

The two NPP activists were on the programme with Mr Sekyere, an Assembly man and a journalist to explain to the residents of Techiman and its environs some of the development achievements of the NPP government.

The Committee for Joint Action (CJA) is organizing ?Wahala' six in Techiman today. On the talk show Ato is reported to have said, Ama Benyiwa-Doe and Mr Ofosu Ampofo, throughout the PNDC and NDC days, did not have to buy fuel as they all served under the two regimes and enjoyed free fuel. He said, today those two are out of government and feeling the heat of buying fuel, which is why they are participating in the ?Wahala' demonstration. Ato also said, today, in spite of their complaints, the organizers of the ?Wahala' demonstrations are all riding in posh cars and pushing poor innocent citizens onto the streets. After the demonstration, he is reported to have asked, what are the poor going to eat now that the rains are coming down.

He then advised the people of Techiman and its environs to boycott today's ?Wahala' demonstration and rather go to their farms so that they could get something to feed themselves and their families. It is this statement, The Independent learnt, which did not go down well with the NDC supporter causing them to storm to ASTAFM to ostensibly teach the two NPP activists a lesson.
