The NDC-USA Chapter is saddened that the current political climate in Ghana is in a haste to reintroduce the culture of silence into the political dispensation of the country.

Every effort is being made by the regime to gag the citizenry from expressing their opinions on matters bothering the development of the country.

The current trending issue with regards to Mr BENARD MORNAH; the national chairman of the PNC, being invited by the police CID, is all part of a grand scheme to put fear into the well-informed Ghanaians to keep quiet so that the government will maneuver the EC to rig the December 2020 general elections for them.

Every citizen of Ghana has an inalienable right to the Freedom of speech and what Mr Mornah said could be upheld as such.

There’s nothing wrong with a citizen saying that he or she will resist any attempt by any individual or institution to undermine the constitutional rights of the people.

What has motivated Mr Mornah to pass that comment is largely shared by many Ghanaians. The action and posture of the EC is nothing short of trying to disenfranchise many eligible voters in the country.

This move by the EC has the tendency to plunge Ghana into a state of anarchy and they seem not to be perturbed by this development.

The irony of the security agencies and for that matter the police in Ghana is that, worse utterances and statements churned out in recent times by members of the NPP, that are ugly and a threat to the peace and serenity of the country are made to pass without caution. This is simply because some Ghanaians are made to look more superior than others. We were all in Ghana when the current President then in opposition made offensive comments including the heartbreaking ‘all die be die’ comment. Members of the ruling party when in opposition made series of derogatory statements and openly beat war drums but were never restrained and invited by the police. What has changed today for the police CID to caution valid statements?

The NDC-USA as well as all members of the NDC living everywhere will at all times stand by and support any individual or organisation that seeks to promote and further enhance our well nurtured democracy. Our current dispensation was occasioned by the NDC and shall not sit by for the successes made to be truncated by few unscrupulous politicians.
