A former journalist with Accra-based ‘Enquirer Newspaper’ and parliamentary correspondent, Egypt Kobla Kudoto, has been highly tipped as best bet candidate to take over as the Volta Regional Youth Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in next Friday’s regional election.
Reports gathered by The Informer indicate that, Egypt as he is affectionately called, and a Special Assistant to the Minister of Transport, Madam Dzifa Aku Attivor, is seen by many as the most favourite in the race so far, and is enjoying significant support from delegates across the region.
Campaigning with the message of re-branding the youth wing and empowerment, the well-known strong activist of the party, who is connected with the grassroots, has taken a comfortable lead in the race.
Mr. Egypt Kudoto, who is also a former reporter with The Ghana Palaver, with over ten years experience in journalism, is expected to use his good human relations, coupled with communication skills to bring unity in the youth front at the party’s “ Political World-Bank”, which is said to be getting despondent when it comes to the NDC affairs.
It is expected that the Regional Youth Organizer aspirant, who is a graduate of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), will also bring on board his knowledge as an expert in governance and leadership skills to empower the youth in the Volta Region.
Some delegates, particularly members of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN), who spoke to The Informer from the region disclosed that Mrs. Attivor’s Special Assistant is the singular candidate who can bring total transformation to both students and the youth front.
They told The Informer that Egypt’s outstanding quality of having good inter-human relations, humble nature, articulates and above all very tolerant outlook puts him ahead of other contestants in the race for the Youth Organizer slot.
This paper’s independent observation and checks has shown that though Mr. Kudoto, who contested the same position four years ago but did not clinch victory, his contribution for the youth and the party has unconditionally made him recognized and respected by the rank and file across the twenty-six Constituencies in the region.
Many delegates, believe and are convinced that the campaign message of Mr. Egypt Kudoto, who they described as “a man of few words” stands tall among his opponents when it comes to the individual messages of the contestants.
Meanwhile, speaking in an exclusive interview with The Informer yesterday, Mr. Kudoto said, the time has come for the NDC in the region to be rebranded.
He said, “The time has come for someone more dynamic and a dedicated member of the party in the region to take over proper management of the youth front”.
Mr. Kudoto mentioned that “the Volta Region is the stronghold of our party, but in the last election, the NPP made lots of gain, I want us to change the way we run the affairs of the party in the region, especially, the youth front, to stop the seeming penetration of the NPP,” he added.
According to him, the solid track record of the NDC is not enough if the achievements of the party in the region are not trumpeted loud and heard wide.
He promised to take advantage of his background as a journalist to engage the media in the party’s quest to retain power.
“I am the game changer, the man to transform the youth wing and the new face of the youth wing in the region,” he stated.
