A leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Dr Vladimir Antwi Danso has stated that the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) is not a party with a tradition and that the party would naturally die when its founder, Flt Lt J.J. Rawlings dies.

Speaking in an interview in Accra, Dr Antwi Danso noted that the NDC does not have the roots of such parties as the CPP and the NPP, but is rather made up of disparate people from other political leanings and that it is only the charisma of Rawlings which is holding the party together. He accused the NDC of prying on the other parties for their members, especially the CPP and predicted that all these people would return to their mother parties when Rawlings is no more.

He stated that because the CPP had firm roots, it was able to survive after the death of Dr Kwame Nkrumah and even won the 1979 general actions. He pointed out that the NDC does not possess such roots or an ideology and therefore would be unable to survive the demise of Rawlings. He further predicted that the CPP would win back all its members after the collapse of the NDC.
