NDC cadres advised to participate in farming projects

Accra, May 25, GNA - The Chairman of the Intimate Club of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Djanie Magoah, has called on unemployed youth of the party to register with the Club to participate in its farming project.

Addressing about 200 members of the Club formed by Ms Sherry Ayittey, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology at Korle Workon on Sunday in Accra, Mr Magoah said the Club had acquired about four acres of land at Nsawam for the farming project which would engage unemployed young cadres of the party in a productive venture.

He appealed to young unemployed cadres of the party in other parts of the country to organize themselves for such opportunities. The Chairman of the Club also advised them to contact the hierarchy of the party in their areas for assistance to take part in the various farming projects initiated by the government to reduce youth unemployment in the country.

He said they should exercise restraint in their demands on the party for employment and to desist from actions that would disrupt government programmes and plans.

Mr Magoah also asked them not to take the law into their own hands and said they should stop taking over public toilets and other toll collecting points. He added that they should use laid down channels to seek redress for their grievances. "I know that your actions are influenced by your desire to protect government money from going into the pockets of some few individuals but you should use the right channel to stop this" he said. Mr Magoah added: "You should avoid all things that will make people give a bad name to the NDC and dwarf all the achievements of the government". He said they should desist from frustrating the efforts of the President and the government in their plans to make Ghana a better place for all to enable the NDC to retain power in the 2012 elections. The Chairman of the club noted that the NDC government under President John Evans Atta Mills had been in power for only one and half years and needed the peace of mind to repair what he called "The mess and mismanagement of the NPP". He stated that within the short period that the NDC had been in power, it had initiated many programmes to put the country on the right track for development and said they should rather support the party's efforts for the people to appreciate the efforts of the government.
