Lawyer (Dr.) Maurice Ampaw in his report about the conduct of the Supreme Court Judges who sat on the 2012 election petition case, has stated that the majority of the Judges handled the petitioners in an impolite manner and made them feel like “fraudsters”.

However, a member of government's communication machinery, Alhaji Naziru Mohammed has called the findings of the Legal Advocacy Foundation as “unfair and bias report” which is negatively skewed to sustain the claim of the NPP that their party was cheated in the final ruling of the case by the nine member panel of Judges.

In the report, Judges have been cautioned to be mindful of their choice of diction and the kind of report they document when putting together their written judgments on cases of public interest.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) literally fought over the results which were announced by the Electoral Commission (EC) in the 2012 Presidential polls.

Although the case has ended, a public interest lawyer, Dr. Maurice Ampaw has started fishing out the mistakes the judges made; thus he has identified several intemperate languages used in the final ruling written by the majority of the judges who sat on the case.

He explained that whilst the petitioners had sought to know from the court why the issue of unsigned pink sheets was trivially treated, Justice William Atuguba made them feel like “fraudsters” who were in court for nothing.

Reacting to the findings of Dr. Maurice Ampaw on “Ghana Decides” program on Okay FM, Alhaji Naziru Mohammed said on authority that the research of the Legal Advocacy Foundation which is supposed to be the mouthpiece of Ghanaians was not fairly and independently done.

He asserted that Dr. Maurice Ampaw received assistance from the opposition NPP when he conducted his research on the impression of the chiefs in the Central Region concerning the behavior of the Supreme Court Judges.

“...I speak on authority of what I know and that is, the work and report the lawyer has brought is not fairly independently done...I have heard him on the same platform that the NPP sent him to do the work; I challenge him to deny if he did not receive any assistance from NPP Executives and used their branded vehicles when he conducted his research in Cape Coast,” he contended.

Upon hearing that Lawyer (Dr.) Maurice Ampaw had denied any assistance from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on his research, Alhaji Naziru Mohammed addressed him (Ampaw) as a liar; thus he has heard the public interest lawyer acknowledging NPP for the support to come out with the report after the NDC had turned their back on him.
