Foster Tetteh, the New Juabeng South Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was arrested by the Koforidua Central Police for stabbing a 26-year-old Richard Nyarko in a free for all fight.

The unruly act happened at the blindside of the police who had earlier swarmed the premises of the New Juabeng Municipal Assembly during hectic polls which brought Dr. Kwaku Owusu-Akyeampong into office as MCE while Michael Boadi Sarpong was elected Presiding Member on Wednesday.

A downpour after the event that ended at about 3:00pm saw everyone leaving the premises.

However, there were rumours that assembly members were sharing some ‘gargantuan’ money meant as motivation for the 77 out of 81 assembly members who partook in the polls.

Foster who an eyewitness said had GH¢1000 or GH¢500 out of the money had earlier registered his disapproval of the President’s nominee and so was regarded as a persona non grata where the money was being shared.

The eyewitness said one of the supporters of Dr. Owusu-Akyeampong, confronted the chief scribe of the constituency over why he had taken the so-called amount.

The said supporter is further alleged to have threatened the NDC scribe that he would snatch the money from him because he did not vote for the nominee but had come for the allowance being shared for supporters.

The supporter, whose name is not readily known, stretched his hand towards Foster’s pocket in an attempt to pull out the said amount.

Realizing the confrontation was almost degenerating into a heated argument, Richard Nyarko reached out to separate the two but Foster Tetteh had long pulled out his key holder which had a mini sharp knife on it to teach his detractors a lesson.

The knife landed on the right hand of Richard and slashed somewhere around his wrist making him to bleed profusely.

The struggle for the knife resulted in Forster also hurting his forefinger on which the key holder was hanging.

The police who had then left to base after the incident-free election were called back to the scene.

They whisked Foster Tetteh away to safety and for questioning.

The police have been tight-lipped over the matter since sources said they had not been able to substantiate allegations surrounding the genesis of the fight which had become the talk of town.
