NDC describes voting process as satisfactory

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - Mr. Joshua Alabi, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, at the close of polls at 1700 hours on Tuesday, described the voting process in the region as generally calm and satisfactory.

He told the GNA that, "after visiting some polling stations in the region, I observed that there were a few minor problems here and there, but we think the process was generally satisfactory." Mr. Alabi said the party's campaign and results collation teams were however, waiting to communicate with the party agents at the various polling stations to be able to properly assess the process and give a better judgement.

"We want to believe that the minor problems which occurred in the region and in some other parts of the country, would not affect the final results but we need to hear from our polling agents to be sure of that," he said.

Mr. Seth Ohene Ofori, Press Secretary to Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Flag Bearer of the NDC, also told the GNA that as at 1630 hours, Prof. Mills was still making rounds to various polling stations to get first hand information on the process.

Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, Chairman of the Electoral Commission told the GNA that he was satisfied that the NDC had described the voting process as generally satisfactory.

"Praise the Lord that the NDC has said the process is satisfactory," he said.

He debunked all allegations of shortage of ballot papers, saying that no such shortage could have occurred, as extra ballot booklets were made available to all the stations.

"If any ballot booklets were not available at some stations at all, then it was part of the extra ballot sheets, but every station had enough to meet the demand," he said.
