NDC gives a ³no comment² to Nana Konadu to pursue peace in the party

The National Democratic Congress has refrained from commenting on assertions by wife of the founder and former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings that the national delegates¹ congress held in Sunyani last year was marred with some inequities.

Nana Konadu, speaking exclusively on Xfm 95.1 upheld her long held assertion that the last congress, in which she lost her bid to lead the NDC into the 2012 general elections as its flag bearer was skewed in favour of President John Mills, who she contested.

She told Sacut Amenga-Etego, host of ³the new voices²; a political talk show on Xfm 95.1 that the party¹s leaders have failed to accept the fact that there were mistakes, hence a poor handling of the aftermath of the congress.

³Before you can handle an aftermath, you must accept that you did the right thing or the wrong thing; if you can not admit even to yourself that you made mistakes, how do you handle the aftermath of that mistake. I have at least 500 people who did not get accreditation even to go and vote; and yet they were executives within certain constituencies. So it is not up to me to point anything out; they know all they have done that is right or wrong, and they actually have to deal with the situation by accepting what they have done; because, if you do not accept that there have been mistakes, you cannot correct anything², she said.

Nana Konadu also reiterated the founder¹s call on the party¹s leaders for a thorough house-cleaning as the only way forward for the NDC, saying, ³you cannot use an organization that is tainted with corruption and negativity and expert that you are going to get a first class in any examination; it is not possible. So until they do that house-cleaning. The risk is that, it is only going to be a dream².

However, the deputy National Organiser of the party, Jopshua Hamidu Akamba, when contacted for the party¹s reactions, refrained to comment.

According to him, reacting to ³his mother¹s² concerns will not bid well for the party¹s peace and unity process.
