Obuasi, Sept. 13, GNA ? Mr Eddie Annan, an aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearship on Tuesday said NDC had a bright chance to win the 2008 general elections because the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) had failed to continue the legacy bequeathed to them in 2000.
He said the NDC during its tenure of office established the needed infrastructure including schools, roads, hospitals, water and rehabilitated the ports, what was left was the creation of jobs to bring economic freedom to the people.
Mr Annan, gave the assurance when speaking to the press after interacting with party executives from Obuasi, Akrofuom, Fomena, New Edubiase, Bekwai, Odotobri and Adansi-Asokwa constituencies at Obuasi. He said NPP had thrown many people out of job thereby impoverishing many Ghanaians.
"NPP is killing the already existing jobs and putting Ghanaians on the streets,? he stressed and said ?He was seeking the leadership of the NDC because he has the ability to create jobs for the people."
"I have done it before and when I am given the mandate and with the team from the men in the NDC, we can create jobs to bring smiles back on the faces of Ghanaians," the aspiring presidential flagbearer said.
Mr Annan said he was capable of leading NDC to victory since he would offer a decisive leadership for the party.
However, he admitted that the party needed to mobilise enough funds and secure the right logistics for effective campaign.
Mr Annan who was confident in beating the other contestants, said the party needed to increase its membership and that he would start with dialogue to get those who had left the party to return.
"I am somebody that can bring all factions together when given the flagbearership position," he said.
He urged party executives at the various constituencies to absorb his message and vote for him at the party?s congress since he was ready to deliver electoral victory to the party in 2008 and move ahead to deliver economic freedom to the nation.
