Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has described the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the greatest 'nightmare' for Ghana.
According to him, NDC any time it is in power brings nothing but pain and mystery to Ghanaians.
Kofi Jumah was commenting on the controversial $19.5 million judgment debt scandal which led to the sale of Ghana’s oil drill ship to French multinational bank, Societe General by the erstwhile Kufuor government.
The Judgment Debt Commission set up to investigate payment of debts subpoenaed the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Bank of Ghana to hear their side of the story.
Officials of the two institutions told the Commission they could not trace documents covering the transaction.
But former deputy Energy Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, Kobina Tahir Hammond has debunked their [GNPC, BoG] assertions.
He said all the government stakeholders at the time of the transaction are aware and has expressed his readiness to appear before the Judgment Debt Commission to set the record straight.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Kofi Jumah said the GNPC and BoG scandal has given more credence to the massive corruption in government.
He claimed because the Mahama-led administration has institutionalized corruption, the canker has eaten into the moral fabric of every government appointee and are now "expert in thievery”.
The NPP man maintained that GNPC and BoG cannot “fool” Ghanaians with the “lame excuses”.
Kofi Jumah stated that no institution in any civilized country in the world will lose documents on a multimillion dollar transaction.
“I am not surprised because such a thing can only happen under an incompetent NDC government. NDC is full of thieves; it needs deliverance before Ghana can progress".
The former Asokwa MP alleged that government is blaming the NPP for its incompetence just to save itself from further embarrassment.
Kofi Jumah was confident any NPP member involved in the transaction will exonerate himself from the allegations.
