A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Sunyani has warned party members not to break their front for the NDC to recaputure power.

?The National Democratic Congress, as you see it, is not a forgiving party and for that matter, if you jail three of them, they would put 400 of you in jail, so it?s better we chose leaders who are dynamic and accommodative, so that they could bring the disintegrated members of our party together to ensure victory in 2008.?

Nana Takyi, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Sunyani gave the warning at the official launching of Mr. Yaw Addai-Owusu?s campaign for the position of the Brong Ahafo Regional chairmanship of the party.

The leading member contended that there was the need to change the entire executive members of the Brong Ahafo regional secretariat; else the party would lose more seats in the region, come 2008.

According to Nana Takyi, the incumbent executives in the region were doing nothing to lift the image of the NPP, but only interested in enriching themselves.

He recommended that the party must have people who are approachable and not arrogant as well as those capable of uniting its members at the grassroots to solicit their views, grievances for redress and to explain government?s policies to them.

Nana Takyi condemned the bossy attitude of party executives to the detriment of some foot soldiers who toiled with their lives and resources to bring the party into power.

He said the gap between the party?s regional executives and the sympathizers was too wide, which required new crop of executives to bridge it to ensure the usefulness of the internal democracy of the party.

The aspiring regional chairman of the NPP, Yaw Addai-Owusu, said the upsurge of petty rivalries, unnecessary and incessant bickering within some constituency executives, MPs and DCEs, some DCEs and their constituency executives, have culminated in rendering the NPP unpopular to many Ghanaians.
