NDC is the most violent Party - NPP Chairman

Mr Dennis Amfo-Sefah, Tema West New Patriotic Party Constituency Chairman has stated that former President John Dramani Mahama’s statement that they were efficient in revolutionary activities was a vindication that the NDC is violent.

“What former President Mahama has done is what we describe in English as language as ‘from the horse’s own mouth. NDC is the most violent party in the entire history of Ghana”.

Mr Amfo-Sefah also known as Nana Boakye said although the NDC had over the years refused to be tagged as violent, what the former President said had vindicated those claims.

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, the NPP chairman said “former President Mahama has finally vindicated our position that, of the two main political parties in Ghana, the NDC is the violent one. Let every Ghanaian mark it down that the NDC’s leader himself has bragged about their violent nature.”

Former President John Mahama recently responded to the violence that happened during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election by indicating that the NDC could be more violent than the NPP and would match the ruling party boot for boot in the 2020 election.

According to him, the NDC was an offshoot of a revolution and could put on its alter-ego any time it wished.

The comment had since attracted condemnation from the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Emmanuel Asante, and other stakeholders who demanded an apology from the former President.

He reminded Ghanaians of the 2005 National Executive election of the NDC at the Eredec Hotel in Koforidua, where the NDC Azorka Boys beat and hounded Dr. Obed Asamoah out of the party.

“They violently attacked their own sitting Chairman, for Dr Kwabena Adjei to become Chairman. And do not forget that it was at this same violent internal party election that the NDC current General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, was elected for the first time as General Secretary,” Nana Boakye said.

He therefore called on Ghanaians not to be shocked about what he said were “unpresidential” comments from former President John Mahama, urging that he should be ignored in the interest of the peace of the country.

“I will also urge the security forces of this country to be alert and monitor the movements of the former President, who has openly declared his intent.

Let the diplomatic community and the rest of the world also take note of what he is saying so that in future, if anything happens, he can be held responsible,” Nana Boakye said.
