Kofi Portuphy, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged members, supporters, and sympathisers to pray feverishly for the party and repose their trust and confidence in God for a landslide victory come December 7.
According to the NDC Chairman, the prayers were necessary because some political opponents have been working against the NDC’s victory spiritually.
He was however confident that the party will win the polls because of the unparalleled achievements of the government, which were evident for the electorate to see and give it another four-year term.
The National Chairman made the request on Sunday, when he launched the electioneering campaign of the parliamentary candidate of the ruling NDC for theTema Central Constituency, Ebi Bright.
Mr Portuphy called on party supporters to vote massively in the constituency to wrestle the seat from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The seat, then Tema East Constituency, had been dominated by the NPP since 1996 before it was split into two in the run-up to the 2012 general election.
The NDC’s National Organiser and 2016 Campaign Co-ordinator, Kofi Adams said the government has invested heavily in all sectors of the economy, ranging from education, roads, water, sanitation, health with the aim of transforming the economy.
Ms Bright said the NDC, led by President Mahama, has created opportunities to better the lots of the citizenry and pledged to compliment his work in the constituency when given the parliamentary nod.
She promised that the key areas of concern during her first term in parliament would be the improvement in education, health, sanitation, social protection, agriculture, livelihoods and job creation, youth and sports development and creative arts, culture and tourism.
The occasion was graced by party bigwigs including Director of Elections, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Joseph Ade Coker, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Marietta Oppong Brew, parliamentary candidate for the Korle Klottey Constituency, Zanetor Rawlings, Dzifa Gomashie, Benita Sena Okiti-Duah and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.
