NDC needs unity, hard work to retain power – MCE

Mr Samuel Oppong, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Agona West, has advised branch and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to unite and work hard to ensure resounding victory for the party in 2016.

According to the MCE, disunity and other personal hatred among members would not augur well for the party in its efforts to organize its structures.

Mr Oppong gave the advice when he addressed branch and constituency executives at the presentation of a total of 1,230, National Health Insurance ID cards to members of the party at Agona Swedru.

The cards were financed by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona West, Mr Charles Obeng-Inkoom, from his share of the National Health Insurance Fund.

The MCE said peace and unity were essential ingredients that would propel the party to retain power, to continue with its developmental agenda for the country.

He said the government under President John Dramani Mahama, with the assistance of Ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) was doing everything possible to stabilize the Cedi against the major foreign currencies.

The MCE assured Ghanaians that “Dumsor” would be over by the end of the year.

He used the occasion to condemn the “fatal acid attack on the Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Adams Mahama, which resulted in his death last Wednesday.

The MCE urged members of the NDC to stay focused, unite and find solutions to the problems currently facing the nation.

Mr Kwesi Dawood, Central Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, debunked rumours against the MCE that he had an ambition to contest the sitting MP, Mr Obeng-Inkoom, in next year’s NDC primaries, and assured members that there was absolute unity and peace between the MP and MCE.

Mr Dawood urged the members to deepen their relations with non-members of the party, and convince them to vote for NDC in the general elections.

Mr Obeng-Inkoom urged the members to see NHIA ID cards as their true property which could help them receive health care when they fall sick.
