Former President Jerry Rawlings has advised the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) against monetising its internal elections as the party elects parliamentary candidates today, Saturday, 24 August 2019.
“We should all comport ourselves properly and do the most logical thing; let’s not allow money to influence our choices”, the NDC founder told journalists when he cast his ballot in the Klottey Korle constituency where his daughter Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is the incumbent Member of Parliament and seeking re-election.
Asked whom he voted for, Mr Rawlings replied: “The obvious choice”.
The party’s parliamentary election is taking place across the country.
A total of 524 candidates are contesting the internal polls in 157 constituencies out of 275.
Thirty-nine MPs are going unopposed.
