The National Democratic Party has announced a change of date for the filing of nominations for regional elections in the newly created regions from 22nd -23rd April to Tuesday 23rd-24th of April.
According to the NDC, the previous date coinciding with the Easter holidays is what informed the decision of the party to set a later date.
In a statement signed by General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the change of date is to allow prospective aspirant have access to banking and other filing related services.

CHANGE OF DATE FOR FILING OF NOMINATIONS
The National Democratic Congress wishes to announce a change of date for the filing of nominations for regional elections in the ten (10) regions created or affected by the creation of the new regions from the previously announced Monday 22nd - 23rd April, 2019 to Tuesday 23rd – 24th April, 2019.
This has been necessitated by the need for convenience in filing of nominations on a working day, so as to allow prospective aspirants have access to banking and other filing related services, especially as Monday 22nd April is a public holiday (Easter Monday).
Secondly, for the avoidance of doubt, members are to take note, that decisions made by Regional Executives of the parent regions to assume or contest for positions in the newly created regions, takes effect from 25th May, 2019, when elections have been conducted and officers duly sworn-in in all affected regions.
