The Chairman of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament, Osei Kwame Prempeh, has questioned the motive behind the opposition NDC?s call for the withdrawal of an amendment bill which seeks to allow Ghanaians abroad to vote in future elections.

The NDC says there are so many questions that need to be answered before the bill can be passed.

According to the Minority Spokesman on Communications, Haruna Iddrisu, there is the need for a thorough public discussion of the bill before it goes through the process of parliamentary passage.

But the chairman of the constitutional and legal affairs says the NDC?s suggestion is uncalled for. ?Committee decided on taking national tour. From the Upper West through five regions. After recess of parliament in august, they will do the remaining regions, listen to people?s comments before presenting a report to presented to the house when it resumes in October?, he said.

Mr Prempeh suggested that the NDC?s fears are that Ghanaians abroad will vote for the ruling NPP should the bill be passed.
