The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Sammy Awuku says the NPP has become a fountain of knowledge for the governing NDC, accusing the Mahama-led administration of always plagiarizing ideas brought to the fore by the Dankwa-Busia-Dombo tradition.
The NDC’s message Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana for the 2016 elections has been criticized strongly as a repackaged title of the NPP’s manifesto document in the last election – ‘Transforming Lives, Transforming Ghana.’
Sammy Awuku in an interaction with Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM said the NDC’s penchant for “copy catting” has reached offensive level and cannot be tolerated any longer.
The National Youth Organizer of the NPP said his party has found that the NDC will only idle about and wait till his party drops fresh ideas so they can pick it and make up for their inefficiencies.
“Even their anthem they plagiarized it from the Bible; they can’t on their own introduce any original idea or initiative. They’ll wait till the NPP put something on paper and then they steal it and make it their own. They started this behaviour since 1992 and they’re still doing it. That is why in this elections we’re saying that they should put out their manifesto then we’ll also come up with ours. They are short of ideas that is why they’ve postponed the launch of their manifesto thrice.”
“When we said we were bringing the School Feeding Programme they said it’s not possible, but we fulfilled it. The same thing happened with the NHIS when they even voted against it in parliament. Now Fred Agbenyo is even claiming that it was in their scheme of plans. Fast forward in 2008 when we proposed the Northern Development Fund the NDC said it is not workable but later they repackaged it and made it the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority(SADA), as well as Nana Addo’s Free SHS Education. We have reached a point where we can no longer afford to be seen to be creative for the NDC to only copy our ideas and mis-implement it.
