The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has asserted that the cross-examination of Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the ambulance procurement trial, has uncovered the falsehoods propagated by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the case.

Addressing a town hall meeting with Ghanaian residents in the United Kingdom, Godfred Dame highlighted the outcome of Jakpa's cross-examination, which he claims has undermined the NDC's accusations of witness tampering against him.

The controversy arose after leaked conversations between Dame and Jakpa were publicized, with the NDC alleging an attempt to unfairly prosecute Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

"Within a matter of two days when we started our cross-examination of the person who was spreading all those lies, you have seen how the matter is going. Their case has crumbled, and as the president will say, 'the case has fallen in water'. So, indeed, we must resist the deception and lies of the NDC because they will come with all sorts of presentations about every major action or step being taken by this government; so we should be on the lookout," he said.

Highlighting achievements under his tenure, Godfred Dame pointed to significant improvements within the Ministry of Justice.

"When I assumed the mantle as the Attorney General in 2021, the Legal Aid Commission, under my ministry, had only four vehicles, the last of which was acquired in 2006. In 2021, about 91 vehicles were acquired for the Ministry of Justice.

"The office had accommodation challenges when I assumed office, with the building only 36% complete. Today, the building has been completed and commissioned," he said, according to a myjoyonline.com report.

Meanwhile, a three-member panel of the Court of Appeal has set timelines to hear a request from Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa challenging the High Court’s order for them to open their defense in the ongoing ambulance case.
