The National Democratic Congress on Saturday, August 24, 2024, unveiled its manifesto at Winneba in the Central Region.

The manifesto outlined the party’s plan for the country, which John Dramani Mahama intends to execute should he win the 2024 election.

Speaking at the launch of the NDC manifesto, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, said that the next NDC government will abolish the COVID-19 Levy.

He indicated that the NDC will reverse the decoupling of the GETFund, NHIL, and the COVID Levy from the Value Added Tax system.

Ato Forson said, "The next NDC government will abolish the COVID Levy and reverse the decoupling of GETFund, NHIL, and the COVID Levy from the Value Added Tax system."

Reacting to the manifesto of the party, Ghanaian businessman General Matheen observed that the promises outlined in the manifesto are business-friendly.

General Matheen stated that the abolishing of taxes will improve the general Ghanaian business landscape and open doors for businesses.

General Matheen detailed that the E-levy, for instance, has been a source of worry for most small-scale businesses that transact business on the mobile money platform and that the development is great for them.

“I have seen the manifesto and the promises are great for businesses. The promise to remove taxes will enable businesses to grow and also help the public because I think we are being overburdened with taxes.

“The NDC has always been for Ghanaian businesses and it's telling in their manifesto. Businesses will boom when the party comes, so I urge all Ghanaians to trust the NDC,” he said.
