The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has settled on Saturday, December 13 for its much-anticipated congress.

A decision on the new date was reached on Tuesday, November 18 by the party’s Functional Executive Meeting.

The party had scheduled October 24 to hold the congress but had to postpone it as a result of several injunctions slapped on constituency, and by extension regional, elections.

Since the mandate of the current executive was to end in December, the party raced against time to hold its congress to fend off any further legal wrangling, General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia once told TV3.

The December 13 will elect regional executive for the party for the next four years.

The climax of the elections will be for the chairmanship position, which is being contested by four persons including the incumbent Dr Kwabena Adjei. Kofi Portuphy, Dan Abodakpi and Alhaji Huudu Yahaya are the other aspirants.
