Aboabo (Ash), Nov. 22, GNA - Thirty-one members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Adansi-Asokwa Constituency of the Ashanti Region have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The Deputy Constituency Secretary of the NDC, Mr Emmanuel Takyi Turkson and 30 members of the party were the latest to announce their defection to the NPP at a political rally at Aboabo in the newly created Adansi North District on Sunday.

Mr Turkson said their decision was in appreciation of the numerous development projects initiated by the NPP.

He said the NDC did not meet the development aspirations of the Constituency during the eight years the Party was in power. Mr Kobina Tahir Hammond, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, said: "Under the NPP Administration, Ghanaians have witnessed much improvement in their lives".

Mr Hammond, who is the Deputy Minister of Energy, said the country had gained international recognition due to the style of leadership of President John Agyekum Kufuor, which favoured good governance. He appealed to the electorate to vote massively for the NPP in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Mr Kwabena Ameyaw, the NPP Constituency Chairman, expressed dissatisfaction about the campaign of lies waged against the NPP and urged the electorate to ignore such deliberate twist of facts by the politicians involved.
