The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is going to inaugurate the Norwegian Chapter of the party in Oslo, adding another feather to its growing Chapters in Europe. Under the able Leadership of Dr Kofitsyo S. Cudjoe, the Norwegian Chapter has grown from humble beginnings to a full-fledged Chapter with a growing number of Ghanaians as members. The occasion is scheduled for Sept 4-5 and will be graced by His Excellency, Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, and the International Director of NDC, Hon Kofi Attor, as guests of honour. The interim Executive Members of NDC Europe and representatives from the various NDC Europe Chapters in Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland and Denmark will be in attendance. African organizations in Norway, NGOs, government agencies, and the Norwegian Labour Party will also participate in the inauguration activities. The Ghanaian community in Norway is gearing itself to this historic event.

Activities scheduled for the occasion include a lecture on sustainable socio-economic and democratic development in Africa to be delivered by His Excellency, Flt Lt Jerry Rawlings on Sept 4 at the University of Oslo. A seminar to be held on September 5 will address, among others, themes relating to the role of women in socio-economic development in Africa, turning brain drain into brain gain, achieving a human-centered development in Ghana, the benefits and pitfalls of foreign investment in the oil and gas industry, and the role of free media in the Norwegian economic development experience.
