Tue, 30 Jan 1996 Source: --

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is alleged to be amassing wealth in all directions to ensure that all is in place come the next general election. Part of the plan is to flood the country, especially the villages with grocery provisions just before the elections. One of their plans has been the planting of a member of the 31st December Movement at Gen. Acheampong's outfit, the Ghana National Procurement Agency. The agency is responsible for making bulk purchases of groceries and commodities such as rice, sugar and others on behalf of the govt for distribution in Ghana. The Ghanaian Chrnicle has claimed in an earlier report that Mrs Mary Hansen, the new acting Chief Executive at GNPA, was planted by the 31 December Women's Movement. "The validity of the story cannot be ascertained but thats how most issues are aired in Ghana", one source said.
