Members of the Minority caucus in Parliament have drawn the attention of the nation to the general inconvenience the President?s decision to continue to reside in a private residential area is causing the neighbourhood, especially after huge sums of money were spent to renovate the castle for exactly that purpose.

A statement signed by the Minority Spokesperson on Communication, Hon. Haruna Iddrissu, expressed their indignation at the conduct of security personnel stationed at the President?s private residence who last Friday, July 22, 2005, arrested and detained three TV Africa Crew for two hours for filming the uncompleted hotel building adjacent to the President?s residence.

The statement also issued a caution to the relatively new Inspector General of Police (IGP) to desist from descending into the arena of politics. It called on the IGP to avoid innuendoes in future and catch phases like ?identification hairs cuts?.

The statement also indicated that whiles the incident of ?identification hairs cuts? was regrettable; it was their view that the use of the President?s private residence as a detention camp was not acceptable, but reprehensible.
