Accra, May 25, GNA - The Executives of the Odododiodioo Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have expressed the hope that the outcome of the party's congress scheduled for July 8th to 10th this year, will be a strong and united front with results acceptable to all.

At the end of an Executive meeting in Accra on Tuesday, they said this would demonstrate the determination of the NDC to retain power in the 2012 elections to continue the 93Better Ghana Agenda".

The Constituency Chairman, Mr Daniel Nii Okai, speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) noted that the contest at congress to elect the most suitable candidate as flag bearer of the party should not be acrimonious since it only confirmed the credentials of the NDC as a social democratic party.

He appealed to the NDC Council of Elders and the National Executive Council, to initiate programmes that would promote peace, unity and tolerance among the rank and file of the party.

The Odododiodioo NDC Chairman called on functionaries and members of party and people, who phone in to Radio programmes popularly known as "Serial Callers" to exercise restraint in their comments either for or against any of the contestants vying to be the flag bearer since they are all very important members of the party, who would be needed, to make victory certain in the 2012 elections and after.

Mr Okai urged the media to avoid sensationalizing their publications on the NDC and its top hierarchy and said the government had made strides under the leadership of President John Evana Atta Mills in the area of development projects and the economy.

Mr Isaaka Collinson, an Executive Member at the constituency, reminded members of the NDC that as social democrats, they should desist from pursuing their individual and parochial interest and to promote what he called 93Collective interest" and the will of the people as the supreme rule.

He asked them to stop the internal bickering within the party and to be wary of their opponents who would take advantage of disagreements within the NDC.
