Ghana ambassador to Egypt H.E Alhaji Said Sinare has said that, elements within and without the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) who wish the party lost the 2012 general elections will be disappointed.
He said, the NDC was a resilient, capable and a progressive party which would not allow the activities of the opposition to distract it from executing the better Ghana agenda and also win the December 2012 polls.
Alhaji Sinare who is a vice chairman of the NDC observed that, the seeming misunderstanding within the NDC though worrying, did not have the potential of destabilizing the ruling party.
‘’these things do happen in politics but the NDC is watchful and using the appropriate channels to heal the wounds and tie loose ends,’’ He said.
Speaking to Radio Gold’s Samuel Ablordeppey on the telephone, H.E Sinare recollected the days when issues occurred and things were allowed to fester and lead to a breakaway of very influential persons within the party, this time ‘’we are in power and we are delivering on the better Ghana agenda, Ghanaians want us to continue thus everything will be done to unite the NDC before the campaign begins.’’
H.E Alhaji Sinare who was a onetime NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayawaso Central constituency stated that, the president Mills led government had done in three and half years exceedingly more than the President Kufuor led government did in its first four years.
He recounted the removal of schools under trees, distribution of free exercises books and laptops, free uniforms, the massive infrastructural development across the country in terms of road construction, construction of school buildings, dormitories and clinics as unprecedented achievements in the history of the fourth republic.
He mentioned the migration of workers onto the single spine salary structure, the transformation of the economy, employment opportunities via LESDEP and the NYEP, laws to protect the oil revenue amongst others as achievements under the President Mills led government has chalked even in the face of the global economic meltdown.
‘One significant thing in the health sector is the purchase of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipments which government has purchased for all the major hospitals across the country to enhance health care. This government is visionary indeed,’’ he said.
Ghana is the third country in the whole of Africa to have purchased those machines and also covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)
He emphasized that, the Ghanaian people were not ready to vote for the NPP because of the good work of President Mills.
He urged all feuding functions in both party and government to join hands and allow what united them be more done what will destabilize them.
‘’NDC is too strong a party for the NPP to use obsolete strategy to destroy. Allah is watching and he will see the NDC through,’’ He said
H.E Alhaji Sinare while sympathizing with the bereaved families of those who lost their lives, properties and injured in the clashes in the North, Central and Volta regions, he also urged them to live in peace unity and love.
H e said peace is a sine qua non to national cohesion and development, and the need for Ghanaians to see themselves as a people with a common destiny.
